Kayaker at Columbia Hills State park

Natural Investment Permit

Annual permit waives watercraft launch, trailer dump and day-use parking fees in Washington State Parks.

Permit details

All boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards must pay a $7 daily launch fee to use state park boat launches. However, with a Natural Investment Permit you’re covered for watercraft launches, day-use parking (no Discover Pass needed!) and trailer dump fees in all state parks.

That means with one pass you and everyone in your vehicle have access to over 100 Washington state parks – more than 40 with watercraft launch sites across the state — making it a great value for your outdoor adventures.

Cost

The annual Natural Investment Permit is $120 and interchangeable between vehicles but valid for only one vehicle at a time.

The permit is a window cling that can be used in whichever vehicle you’re taking out on your next adventure.

This permit is valid for one year from the month of purchase.

Rules and safety

The Natural Investment Permit can only be used at Washington state parks. If you plan to use boat launches managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife or Washington Department of Natural Resources, you will need to purchase a Discover Pass to park.

The Natural Investment Permit is not valid for commercial vehicles.  Our state park facilities are for recreational use only and are not intended for commercial activities without a permit.

Be sure to read the regulations that are important to follow while boating.

Many recreational boaters in Washington are required by law to complete a boating safety course and carry a Washington State Boater Education Card. Learn how to get yours here. You can also learn more about water safety from our Boating Program here.

And if you’re on a canoe, kayak or paddleboard, Paddle To Be Seen, and stay safe on the water!

Boating resources

If you’re interested in overnight boating adventures, consider buying an Annual Moorage permit. This annual permit waives the moorage fee at State Park marine facilities.

Or, if it's fishing and shellfishing that brings you to the water, don’t forget to get your licenses online from Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Make sure you know where to find your nearest public waste pump-out locations.
