




For staff training, the Tumwater Headquarters lobby and Information Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 1. We will not be taking appointments during this time. Our Information Center will not be answering phone calls, but you can leave a voicemail. Or, email infocent@parks.wa.gov.
Fires allowed in all designated fire pits and grills. Propane and gas grills allowed.
Due to early freezing temperatures the campground and day use at Wanapum Recreation Area will be closing October 24, 2023. The boat launch will remain open.
Vehicle use on Recreation Trail, through the locked gate off Recreation Drive, is being restricted at this time; foot and bicycle access is allowed. This restricted access is to protect the natural and cultural resources we all care about as well as address on-going degradation of the trail.
The solar-powered charging station located at the Ginkgo Petrified Forest trailside museum is out of service. There is no estimated repair date at this time.

A National Natural Landmark, Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park offers hiking and interpretive activities. Camping and water access is down the road at Wanapum Recreation Area.

Full-hookup and hiker/biker sites are available. Maximum site length is 60 feet, limited availability. Tent campers may use the sites but must pay full fee.
High winds are frequent, especially in the evening. Tents are strongly not recommended, campers should secure light-weight articles.
The park is heavily used during The Gorge Amphitheatre concert season. Facilities fill early on weekends.
Ginkgo Petrified Forest Interpretive Center offers day-use picnic areas, exterior displays and an interpretive facility.
The Trailside Museum and Trees of Stone Interpretive Trail include signage about the petrified wood and 1.25 miles of trail that weave through petrified logs in their original setting. This site has a total of three miles of hiking trails.
