Commission meetings and agendas

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is a board of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor. It holds four regular meetings in pre-determined locations around the state, four virtual meetings and one planning meeting a year. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings and may be virtual, written or in person, depending on the meeting.

The commission typically meets in a work session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day prior to the regular meeting in the same location or at a location near the regular meeting location. Work sessions are educational sessions on park operations and issues that eventually may go before the commission. The commission may also tour area sites or parks the day following the regular meeting. No public comment and no formal action are taken at work sessions and tours.

September 9 2026 Special Meeting Announcement

Aug. 31, 2026

In accordance with (RCW 42.30.080), RCW 79A.90.025(1), the Chair of this Commission, has called a Special Meeting on September 9, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:00 am, which will be held virtually. We will be providing a meeting space for the public to watch at WSPRC HQ, 300 Desmond Dr Se, Lacey, WA 98503. Staff/commissioners will be attending virtually.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Commissioners and Westport Golf Links to hold a workshop to provide the opportunity for the commissioners to raise questions or concerns directly to Westport Golf Links and for Westport Golf Links to respond, clarify issues, and prepare additional information that may be needed before the October 19, 2026, Special Commission meeting. No final action will be taken during the special meeting. No public comment will be taken at this meeting.

October 2026 Special Meeting Announcement

In accordance with (RCW 42.30.080), RCW 79A.90.025(1), the Chair of this Commission has called a Special Meeting on Oct. 19, 2026.

The purpose of the Oct.19, 2026, special meeting is for the Commission to review the proposal from Westport Golf LLC for potential development at Westport Light State Park and receive public comments regarding the same. No final action will be taken during the special meeting. The meeting will be held in the Aberdeen High School Auditorium, 410 N G St, Aberdeen, WA 98520. This meeting will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and run until approximately 9 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2026.
