OLYMPIA – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, in partnership with Outdoors for All Foundation, is excited to launch a pilot program that offers an Action Trackchair for visitor use at Lake Sammamish State Park.
Washington State Parks has been working with the Fort Worden Public Development Authority (FWPDA) and other partners to develop a long-term plan for the upper campus at Fort Worden State Park. The FWPDA is the current manager of the upper campus at the park and due to ongoing financial challenges, requested dissolution of their organization by the City of Port Townsend at a meeting on Aug. 1. This kicks off a series of processes that will lead to State Parks resuming management of the site by the fall.
State Parks closes parts of Bowman Bay to protect the new pup
OLYMPIA – Feb. 4, 2022 – Washington State Parks announces the birth of a new northern elephant seal at Deception Pass State Park.
The birth took place on Jan. 31 at Bowman Bay in the park. The pup's mother is one of a small family of elephant seals that visits Whidbey and Fidalgo islands frequently and is well known to residents. This is her first pup.
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Latino Leadership Network (LLN) and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invite the public to attend the third-annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Millersylvania State Park south of Olympia.
The community event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
