Hiking through Habitat

There are currently no future events scheduled.
Hike with us through the important habitat that is Saint Edward State Park!

State Parks provide essential habitat for diverse species of plants and animals. Join us as we hike along the Orchard Loop Trail and explore what makes Saint Edward State Park such an important habitat! Meet near the paved trail by the playground on the south side of the seminary.

All ages welcome. Trail is not stroller friendly. Loop is 0.5 miles starting from the trailhead (trail is #8 on the park map). Trail is rated easy difficulty and is relatively flat in places, but may require stepping up and down, over tree roots or other obstacles on the ground, some incline/decline, and may be muddy in wet weather. Sturdy shoes recommended.

Directions

From the main parking areas on the south-west side of the seminary, follow the parking lot to the paved trail on the south side of the seminary lawn toward the playground. Restrooms are located between the playground and the parking lot near the sports fields. Meet on the paved trail near the playground.

Saint Edward First Day Hike

There will be 2 guided hikes:
Moderate hike of almost 2 miles with variation in elevation; estimated time to complete the hike is 1 hour. Hiking poles would be helpful in some places due to steepness of the trail.
Easier hike on shorter, flatter route of 1.4 miles OR guided history-focused walk along Perimeter trail depending on trail conditions that day.
