Guided by Park staff and volunteers from the Friends of Mt. Spokane, participants will snowshoe past the Bald Knob Picnic Shelter to the historic Vista House located at 5,833 feet – the highest point of Mt. Spokane. If weather permits, participants will have views of the Cabinet Mountains in Montana, Selkirk Crest in North Idaho, and nearby lakes.

OLYMPIA – March 20, 2025 –The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is opening up more camping opportunities for visitors by expanding its same-day reservation option to all parks with reservable campgrounds.

Join Park staff at the secluded Griffiths-Priday State Park in Copalis Beach and walk through the coastal forest of shore pine and Sitka spruce along Connor Creek eventually winding down the bluff onto the ocean beach.
Participants will snowshoe west along the Lower Kit Carson Loop Road to Smith Gap and the warming hut which was completed in 2014. Along the way, participants will traverse through a beautiful old-growth cedar-hemlock forest and pass several stream crossings.

Jackson House State Park Heritage Site is a 1.4-acre day-use park at Jackson Prairie. The park is the setting of a homestead cabin built by John R. Jackson, one of the first Euro-Americans to settle north of the Columbia River and a significant figure in early Washington territorial history.
