Mount Spokane State Park is a 12,444-acre park in the Selkirk Mountains with 100 miles of trails and panoramic views from the summit of 5,883-foot Mount Spokane. The mixed-use trails vary in difficulty for hiking, biking, and horseback riding in the summer to snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. During summer, trek through Ponderosa pines and subalpine meadows filled with bear grass, wildflowers and huckleberries, a local favorite.
Mount Spokane has an adventure for everyone, from a relaxing stroll through tall trees and subalpine meadows to a challenging uphill climb to the summit.
In the winter season, the park features nearly 37 miles of professionally groomed Nordic ski trails through widely varying terrain for both classic and skate skiing. The Selkirk Lodge provides restrooms, water, tables and a wood stove. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Dec. 1 through March 31. Within the Nordic trail system, take a break to warm up in Nova Hut or Tripp’s Knob Warming Shelter, each offers seating and a wood stove.
Sixteen miles of groomed trails available for snowmobiling and other types of non-motorized use. Stop to get warm at Smith Gap or the Historic CCC Cabin before enjoying the snowmobile play areas.
Non-groomed trails are perfect for snowshoeing and fat-tire biking.
If you need to rent snowshoes and cross-country skis Dec. 1 through March 31, visit the Fitness Fanatics trailer in the parking lot next to the Selkirk Lodge. More information, visit Fitness Fanatics.
