Seasonal climbing closures protect nesting peregrine falcons at two state parks

As spring unfurls its greenery, blossoms and blooms, it also brings infinite cuteness in the form of baby animals, including species that we and our fellow land agencies strive to protect. If you visit Beacon Rock in the Columbia River Gorge or Deception Crags at Olallie State Park near Seattle between February and August, you might find your favorite rock climbing area closed. And if you’re vacationing on Stuart Island in the San Juan Islands, you’ll find parts of the Lighthouse View Trail closed too.
