Same-day reservations program expands across Washington 

OLYMPIA – June 6, 2024 – Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (Parks) is excited to announce its same-day reservation pilot program has expanded to 26 parks across the state.   

Want to build a snowman? Hike? Go sledding? Choose your own winter wonderland adventure this Jan. 1 at Fields Spring State Park!
Hike Options

1.5 Lake Trail – Open to all ages
Meet at the Legacy Pavilion at 1pm. The hike will begin there and will go around the lake, 1.5 miles. The trail can be slippery and muddy, so rain/mud boots are heavily recommended.

Forest Bathing Stroll
Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is a Japanese practice of immersing in nature for health and wellness benefits. The hike will begin at the Legacy Pavilion. The walk is a gentle easy stroll through the park and group camp.

.5 Mile Kids Hike
Our kids hike begins at the legacy pavilion. The group will be led by staff over the bridge and up through group camp and back toward the dam and back to the legacy pavilion. Along the way plant species and little critters will be discussed.

2021-22 prices will ensure Sno-Parks continue to operate

Brooks Memorial State Park is located in a Simcoe Mountain oasis of ponderosa pine and Oregon white oak forest beside the East Prong of the Little Klickitat River. Go for a hike with Ranger Mehgan on a new route for this year's First Day Hike! We will explore the west to south route of our perimeter loop trail with a special surprise near the end of our hike. This hike is easy with a steady decline down to The Spit. Please come prepared for weather and bring a good pair of binoculars in case we spot some epic birds along the way!
Join us along the Little Spokane River for riparian plant maintenance. Dogwood, Cottonwood, Aspen, and Willows were planted with cages placed around them to avoid critters munching on them. Now that the plants are well established and mature, it's time to remove the cages. There is also an invasive grass growing in this area. We can mow down the reed canary grass to avoid it going to seed and spreading.
