Tales from the trail: Community invited to Palouse to Cascades Trail webinar

Washington State Parks’ longest trail has had an eventful year, and staff are excited to share about what they’ve accomplished and what’s to come. 

The community is invited to attend a free webinar on Nov. 20 from 2-3:30 p.m. to learn more about some of the projects and activities State Parks has completed on the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail in 2025. The webinar is also an exciting opportunity to get a sneak peek at what’s planned for 2026. 

Participants must register in advance to attend.  

The webinar presentation will include: 

• An update on the renovation of the historic Kittitas Depot, located near Ellensburg
• An overview of all the interpretive improvements led by the State Parks Exhibit Program
• A Q&A with State Parks staff

The Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail is a non-contiguous 251-mile, “rail-to-trail” that runs from Cedar Falls near North Bend east to the Idaho border.   

The trail is a converted rail line within a portion of the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, which operated from 1909 to 1984.   

Today, the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail gives hikers, cyclists and equestrians a taste of Washington’s scenic diversity, from the forested Cascade Mountains to the arid shrub steppe of eastern Washington.
