State Parks Commission to meet in Lacey for regular meeting and work session

LACEY — The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its regular commission meeting on July 9 at its headquarters in Lacey.
This is a hybrid meeting, and the public is welcome to attend in-person or online.
Agenda items include:
- A requested easement from the City of Spokane on the Spokane River Centennial State Park Trail
- Requested approval of the Mount Spokane State Park Master Plan
- Evaluation of grant projects proposed in the State Parks category of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program
- A financial update, including operating and capital budget expenditures, and Parks Renewal and Stewardship Account revenues
A work session is scheduled the day before the regular meeting on July 8. Work sessions are open to the public, however, there will be no opportunity for the public to comment, and no formal action will be taken.

On Tuesday, July 7, the Commission will be joining State Parks leadership and staff on a parks tour that includes a portion of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail and Lake Sammamish State Park. The public is invited to attend the tour but must provide their own transportation.
The tour will begin at the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail – Homestead Valley Trailhead at 9:30 a.m. The group will arrive at Lake Sammamish at 12 p.m. The tour will conclude by 3 p.m.
Public comment
In-person oral public comment will be accepted at the regular meeting. If you wish to comment at a meeting, please fill out a comment card and provide it to staff at the sign in table. The Chair will call you up to the front at the appropriate time.
Written comment
Written public comment will be accepted for all agenda items until 5 p.m. on July 3 by using our online portal. Any comments received after the cutoff will be given to the commission before its next meeting. Please submit comments through our Commission Public Comment Form
Virtual public comment will also be accepted at the meeting and pre-registration is required. To register, email commission@parks.wa.gov by 5 p.m. on July 3. Please provide the name you will be logging in under, contact phone number as well as the agenda item or general topic you will be speaking on. You will receive an email by noon on July 6 with specific instructions around virtual testimony.
