Commission meetings and agendas

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is a board of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor. It holds four regular meetings in pre-determined locations around the state, four virtual meetings and one planning meeting a year. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings and may be virtual, written or in person, depending on the meeting.

The commission typically meets in a work session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day prior to the regular meeting in the same location or at a location near the regular meeting location. Work sessions are educational sessions on park operations and issues that eventually may go before the commission. The commission may also tour area sites or parks the day following the regular meeting. No public comment and no formal action are taken at work sessions and tours.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will be holding their regularly scheduled commission meeting and work session virtually on August 26, 2026. Please note that this is an online meeting. We will be providing a meeting space for the public to watch at the WSPRC HQ, 300 Desmond Dr Se, Lacey, WA 98503. Staff/commissioners will be attending virtually.

Public Comment

The public is invited to attend, but no verbal public comment will be taken at this meeting.

Written Public Comment

Written public comments will be accepted for all agenda items until 5 p.m. on August 21 by email or mail. Any comments received after the cutoff will be given to the commission before its next meeting. Please submit comments through our online comment form: Commission Public Comment Form
