Join us to improve young stands of Ponderosa Pine and Doug Fir through reducing overcrowded stands. Giving trees proper spacing allows them to grow with health and vigor instead of competing with one another for space, light, and water. We will use handsaws and loppers to remove trees and lay them alongside the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to make a pass through at a later date.
We will meet at the 9-Mile Rec Area and hike or shuttle to our thinning site (1/4-1/2 mile up the trail).
Join us for a pop-up program about Fort Worden's bluffs! Stop on by our booth to learn about the evolving landscape and history stored in the layers of sand.
Join us at Bowl & Pitcher to give our picnic shelter some TLC. We will replace the picnic table boards on 4 tables and begin sanding down the inside of the shelter to remove graffiti and prepare for a fresh coat of paint.
For the second year in a row, Beacon Rock is hosting a living history event at the Lower Picnic Area’s CCC-era Kitchen Shelter, in partnership with the Roosevelt’s Tree Army Living History Group.
