Nature's Timeline: Beach Bluffs

-
Join us for a pop-up program about Fort Worden's bluffs! Stop on by our booth to learn about the evolving landscape and history stored in the layers of sand.

Bluffs are a constantly evolving natural landscape, rich in ecological and historical significance, and their preservation—as well as your safety—depends on responsible stewardship.

Come learn more about the importance of bluffs, how to recreate safely around them, and what history has been recorded in their layers of sand.

The pop-up booth will be located in the day-use area next to the Knapp's Circle parking lot. Please note that in the event of high winds or rain, this program may be cancelled. We will update this page if that is the case.

When entering the park, continue along Fort Worden Way until the 4-way stop. Take a right onto Eisenhower Ave. At the end of the road take a left onto Harbor Defense Way. Continue towards the lighthouse. Kapp's Circle will be on the left prior to reaching the lighthouse. There is a small parking lot next to the day use area and beach trails.

Alternatively, there are parking lots all along Harbor Defense Way that connect to a roadside ADA accessible hiking trail that follows along Harbor Defense Way and Knapp's Circle.
