Bird Walk - Earth Day Celebration

Spend your Saturday celebrating Earth Day at Deception Pass State Park by exploring, learning, and volunteering! Join for one activity or the entire day of events.

Bird Walk Description

Walks are designed as a great opportunity for birders of all levels. Practice bird identification skills, explore unique bird habitats, and learn from other birders. We recommend bringing your own binoculars and/or scopes, though we will have a few on hand to borrow. 

Time of event: 10:00 a.m.

Where to meet: Bowman Bay Shelter (follow signs)

Registration Required: No

Things to bring: Binoculars, snacks, water, warm clothes, hiking boots/sturdy shoes

Event Schedule

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Bird Walk 

Enjoy a hot drink and snacks before heading off to explore Bowman Bay to discover some of the common, and not so common, species of birds that call the park home.

12:00 p.m. Break for lunch 

Join us for lunch and connect with others you love the park. Some snacks and light lunch items will be available, please feel free to bring your own food as well. 

1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Restoration Event

Give back and volunteer. Participate in a variety of restoration activities at Bowman Bay. Activities include invasive dune grass removal, micro-plastic demo and collection, and a beach cleanup.

  • From State Route 20, turn on to Rosario Road. 
  • Make an immediate left turn to follow signs to Bowman Bay boat launch. 
  • Follow signs from either parking lot to shelter.
