2024 American Roots Concert Series

Now in it's 18th year, this popular summer concert series at Deception Pass State Park is a celebration of America's wide variety of musical traditions.

Come tap your toes and enjoy the fun at one of Washington's most beloved and beautiful state parks. 

Time: All concerts are 7-8 p.m.
Location: All concerts are held at North Beach Amphitheater (Directions) at Deception Pass State Park

Whiskey Deaf performs bluegrass and traditional American music, and features the fiery fiddling of Annie Staninec, who has toured in over a dozen countries performing with everyone from David Grisman to Rod Stewart. This band combines decades of musical experience across many genres, and their passion for this music comes through in every performance. Whiskey Deaf has played at esteemed festivals and venues internationally, has been a hit at our other Washington State Park Folk Traditional Arts program venues, and will be a great addition to this year's Deception Pass program - Annie's joyful exuberance is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Listen to Whiskey Deaf on YouTube!

Guided Hike: Post-glacial Wildflowers - Deception Pass

Did you know Deception Pass was once covered in a massive glacier? Join staff for a hike to the summit of Goose Rock to explore how glaciers have shaped our park and the unique wildflowers that grow in this post-glacial ecosystem. This hike is a roughly 1-mile out and back with 380ft elevation gain. Surfaces include stairways and dirt trail. The hike is expected to take 1.5 hours with a 20-minute return hike back to the parking lot. This hike is not stroller accessible or ADA.

Family in Nature - Deception Pass

Family in Nature is a fun and highly interactive, nature-based program designed for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and focuses on various aspects of nature found in the park. The programs include story time, creative play, parent-led activities and crafts. Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you and your little ones can enjoy the wonders of Deception Pass together.
