Anderson Lake is known for algae blooms that can close fishing and water recreation on the lake. Exposure to the toxins in the water can cause serious illness or death to people and pets.

Part of the Park is Closed
For your safety, the lower part of Cama Beach Historical State Park, is currently closed. The closure area begins at the Cama Beach Café and includes all road and trail access down to the beach as well as the full length of the historic beach—please do not attempt to access the closure area.
The Cama Beach Café is still accessible, and service will not be affected by this closure.
A portion of the aging sea wall has separated and fallen due to ongoing impacts from king tides, severe weather and winds. Staff are continuing to monitor the situation and are actively working to stabilize the remaining wall.

For park winterization, water in the campground is off beginning November 17, 2025 until April 2026. Potable water is available at campsite #2 and the cabin and group camp area restrooms.
Boating and Moorage
Starting Monday, October 20 the docks at Lowell Point boat launch will be pulled and the launch will be winterized until Spring 2026. The boat launch will still be open for use, however, the docks will be removed.

Cape Disappointment camping is closed entirely until late spring 2026 while the park undergoes major renovations.
Access to Waikiki Beach and the North Jetty is not available until the end of construction.
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, North Head Lighthouse area, Beard's Hollow, will remain open during this closure. Please feel free to contact the park if you have questions.

There is construction at the entrance of the park. This work starts at the end of May and will last through November. The camping area has picnic tables, fire pits, and a heated restroom with free hot showers available. RV size is restricted to no longer than 20’ in combination length in the South Park. Overnight visitors are required to display a valid Sno-Park Pass* for their vehicle in addition to the Camping Permit ($23/night) for the primary vehicle or Extra Vehicle Permit ($10/night) for any additional vehicles. Cash/Check is accepted at self-serve pay stations located in the park, credit cards are also accepted at the day-use parking lot across the road from the restroom.
*A Valid Sno-Park Pass means either a Daily Sno-Park Permit ($25) or a Seasonal Sno-Park Pass w/ the Special Groomed Trails Permit ($120).

Construction
Department of Natural Resources will be working on a logging project starting on March 1st, 2026 through June 15th, 2026 on Mondays - Friday's. Logging access will be through Lost Lake parking lot, Fragrance Lake road, and Burnout Road (DNR). Expect lost lake parking lot to be impacted, heavy equipment operation, loud noises and possible trail closures.

The access road to the Mount Pilchuck trailhead is closed for the off-season winter months past the Heather Lake Trailhead. Park visitors can still park at Heather Lake Trailhead and make the additional 6-mile hike to the Mount Pilchuck Trailhead. Opening and closing dates are not set, but you can inquire with the Verlot Public Service Center within the Darrington Ranger District for further details.

During the summer season of 2026, we will be undergoing extensive culvert replacements throughout the park from July 15 through September 30. Expect heavy equipment noise and traffic impacts, including single lane alternating traffic.

The Snoqualmie Tunnel at Hyak is closed for the winter season. The Roaring Creek, Cold Creek, and Whittier backcountry restrooms are closed for the winter season. All will reopen in the spring when the snow melts.

During the Vantage Bridge construction project, WSDOT is redirecting bicycles from I-90, both directions, to take the Beverly Bridge detour. The detour signs on the Palouse to Cascades Trail are only for the I-90 detour. The trail is open through the Yakima Training Center.

Avista began their annual drawdown of Lake Spokane for maintenance and weed control on Feb. 13. They plan to keep the water level 13-14 feet below summer elevation for 3-6 weeks, depending on water flow and weather. See Avista's news release for more information.

Additionally, please unbox and recycle new gear and gadgets at home – packaging is one of the biggest contributors to in-park litter. There is ongoing construction along the Levy Trail. This is a long-term ecosystem restoration project conducted by the federal government and is scheduled until late 2027. The work includes large equipment driving up and down the Levy Trail. Expect extra noise near areas along the Levy Trail and campsites 17 - 36.
