Wildfire season is here. A Level 3 Burn Ban is in effect statewide. No charcoal or wood fires. Gas and propane stoves and gas and propane fire pits are ok where allowed. Before visiting, check park alerts and burn restrictions before lighting any fires. Check current air quality at your destination on AirNow.
Non-motorized recreation
The Winter Recreation program provides Sno-Parks, which provide cleared parking areas near groomed and backcountry trails. We offer two types of Sno-Parks, snowmobiles trails and non-motorized trails. Some Sno-Parks offer both types of trails.
Some non-motorized Sno-Parks have groomed trails, and some have backcountry trails. Groomed trails include a tracked trail and sometimes a skating lane. Nonmotorized trails offer a variety of activities including cross-country skiing, play areas, skijoring, snowshoeing and inner-tubing.
Plowing
Keep in mind that Sno-Park plowing cannot be maintained without highway plowing. For this reason, under certain weather conditions, some Sno-Parks may not be cleared for vehicle parking until nearby highways have been cleared. It is against the law to park on highway interchanges.
