From sea stars to anemones, explore the fascinating critters that lurk underwater and hide under rocks. Look for a ranger stationed on the beach at Obstruction Pass State Park and join us for this family-friendly program.

Aside from showcasing cool critters, intertidal zones help protect the ecosystem. They provide nurseries for young fish and invertebrates, sheltering them in shallow water. In turn, birds, marine life, and land mammals dine on these tiny critters, making them building blocks of the food web.

After passing the archway to Moran State Park, continue on Olga Road for about three miles. Then, turn left onto Point Lawrence Road. After about a half mile, make a right onto Obstruction Pass Road and follow it for almost a mile. Then turn right onto the gravel Trailhead Road and follow this road for 0.8 miles, dead ending at the parking area. Please be aware this is a washboard road. Hike down the 1.6-mile trail to the beach and you'll see a ranger stationed there at the edge of the shoreline to your left.
