Riverside - Volunteer Event - Forest Health - Thinning

There are currently no future events scheduled.
Come join us at the Trautman Conservation Area in Nine Mile Falls to continue thinning overcrowded Ponderosa Pine & Doug Fir Stands. Removing smaller trees will allow more space and nutrients for the mature trees to grow larger. We will be using handsaws and loppers, then dragging the trees to the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to come through later this Spring.

What to bring:

-Discover Pass (we can supply one for the event)

-Gloves and Eye Protection (we have some to share)

-Warm Layers

-Minors only: Note from guardian granting permission to attend the event

Volunteer Event - Centennial Trail - Forest Health (Thinning)

Happy Earth Day!

Join us to improve young stands of Ponderosa Pine and Doug Fir through reducing overcrowded stands. Giving trees proper spacing allows them to grow with health and vigor instead of competing with one another for space, light, and water. We will use handsaws and loppers to remove trees and lay them alongside the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to make a pass through at a later date.

We will meet at Wilbur Trailhead and walk or shuttle to the thinning site (about 1/4-1/2 mile from the trailhead).
