Volunteer Event - Riverside - Riparian Plant Maintenance
Join us along the Little Spokane River for riparian plant maintenance. Dogwood, Cottonwood, Aspen, and Willows were planted with cages placed around them to avoid critters munching on them. Now that the plants are well established and mature, it's time to remove the cages. There is also an invasive grass growing in this area. We can mow down the reed canary grass to avoid it going to seed and spreading.Volunteer Event - Riverside - Upgrade Picnic Tables & Shelter
Join us at Bowl & Pitcher to give our picnic shelter some TLC. We will replace the picnic table boards on 4 tables and begin sanding down the inside of the shelter to remove graffiti and prepare for a fresh coat of paint.Volunteer Event - Centennial Trail - Forest Health (Thinning)
Happy Earth Day!Join us to improve young stands of Ponderosa Pine and Doug Fir through reducing overcrowded stands. Giving trees proper spacing allows them to grow with health and vigor instead of competing with one another for space, light, and water. We will use handsaws and loppers to remove trees and lay them alongside the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to make a pass through at a later date.
We will meet at Wilbur Trailhead and walk or shuttle to the thinning site (about 1/4-1/2 mile from the trailhead).
