Location: All concerts will be held at Waikiki Beach (Directions) at Cape Disappointment State Park
All concerts are free. A Discover Pass is required to park.

Duo Takinai

Duo Takinai weaves a rich tapestry of world folk music with the soulful melodies and stories of East Asia, the Andes, and Sephardic traditions. Takinai is a mix of two words, the Quechua (Bolivian indigenous language) word “Takina” meaning “music”, and the Chinese word “ai 爱” meaning “love.” Joined by the love for music, Duo Takinai (Ke and Reynaldo) interprets traditional and contemporary repertoire from Latin America, Eastern Mediterranean, and East Asia. From their own distinct cultural heritages and musical backgrounds, the two multi-instrumentalists employ a wide variety of instruments such as the Andean and Asian wind instruments, world percussions, guitar, harp, piano, and more.

They strive to put on an exhilarating and energetic show that leaves people of all musical tastes wanting to dance. So whether you like to bang your head, shake that booty, or just sit back and vibe, they are sure to have something for you!

Awal Alhassan & Sohoyini

Awal Alhassan is a dancer and drummer from Ghana, West Africa and the founder of Sohoyini West African Dance Company. Born and raised by a traditional drumming and dancing family in Tamale, Ghana, Awal has worked throughout Africa both independently and with some of Ghana’s performance groups such as the Ghana Dance Ensemble, The National Theatre of Ghana, and the Center for National Culture Dance Troupe. Sohoyini means “one heart” in Dagbani, the language of the Dagombas in Northern Ghana.
The Horsenecks

The Horsenecks are Gabrielle Macrae and Barry Southern. Based in Astoria, Oregon, they are two multi-instrumentalists who have come together from traditional music backgrounds and found a sound that weaves through layers of influence that include early Appalachian fiddle and banjo music, country, classic bluegrass and original folk.
