The Department of Natural Resources has issued a statewide burn ban restricting the use of outdoor burning, campfires, the use of charcoal briquettes, and prescribed burns on all forest lands within DNR’s fire protection, including all Washington State Parks, through Sept. 30, 2024. Join our local astronomers under the stars where they will answer your deepest cosmic questions, dive into the depths of the cosmos, explore our small harmonious Solar System, and massive chaotic celestial objects.
Grab a blanket or a chair and lay out under the stars on the beach of Lake Wenatchee South Park where local astronomers and Park Rangers will explore the night sky.
Together we may explore Saturn's Rings, Jupiter's colors, the Moon's topography, and travel beyond our Solar System to learn just how big the universe really is. We'll use large telescopes, lasers, and other fun astronomy tools to navigate stars, galaxies, and supernovae. Interested in constellations? At this program we can explore imaginative shapes that shaped our history and continue to shape our future!
Every program is different in this series and is catered to the curious and imaginative. So, bring your deepest cosmic questions and let’s blast off into space!
During the program, please avoid the use of white light, red lensed lights are allowed. If you're driving to the event, please try to avoid pointing headlights towards the beach while parking.
Please arrive 10 minutes early, dress appropriately for the weather and possible wind; insect repellant may be necessary.
The event is free. Day use visitors will require a Discover Pass on their vehicle for parking.
