Beavers are Environmental Stewards - A Ranger Talk at Moran State Park
"Beavers are like ecological and hydrological Swiss Army knives," according to renowned author Ben Goldfarb. Come discover the role beavers play in improving water quality, mitigating floods, and building climate resistance, and learn about the innovative Beaver Dam Analogues (BDAs) being placed in many streams and rivers around the Pacific Northwest to mimic the work done by these industrious creatures.
We will also be joined by special guest Hadley Beahan, the Education and Research Manager at Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Hadley will discuss the natural history of the beaver and let you know what to do if you ever find one injured. She will also take this opportunity to launch a new community science opportunity on the islands.
