Riverside - Volunteer Event - Forest Health - Thinning

There are currently no future events scheduled.
Come join us at the Trautman Conservation Area in Nine Mile Falls to continue thinning overcrowded Ponderosa Pine & Doug Fir Stands. Removing smaller trees will allow more space and nutrients for the mature trees to grow larger. We will be using handsaws and loppers, then dragging the trees to the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to come through later this Spring.

What to bring:

-Discover Pass (we can supply one for the event)

-Gloves and Eye Protection (we have some to share)

-Warm Layers

-Minors only: Note from guardian granting permission to attend the event

Volunteer Event - Riverside - Riparian Plant Maintenance

Join us along the Little Spokane River for riparian plant maintenance. Dogwood, Cottonwood, Aspen, and Willows were planted with cages placed around them to avoid critters munching on them. Now that the plants are well established and mature, it's time to remove the cages. There is also an invasive grass growing in this area. We can mow down the reed canary grass to avoid it going to seed and spreading.
