Join Mount St. Helens Visitor Center staff for a full day of education, memories and celebration of the 1986 Visitor Center, which is slated for renovation.

The Mount St. Helens Visitor Center will open Sun., Sept. 29 for a full day of memories, education and celebration before closing this winter for renovation. Join staff starting at 9 a.m. for Junior Geologist activities, crafts, ranger programs and special displays of Mount St. Helens 1980 memorabilia. 

From Noon to 4 p.m., visit with members of the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Mount St. Helens Institute, Cowlitz County Historical Museum, Army Corps of Engineers and more!

Then round out the day with a 4 - 5 p.m. presentation with light refreshments and updates about the renovation the Center will undergo this Fall and Winter before reopening in Spring of 2025!

Mount Saint Helens Visitor Center First Day Hike

Come join park staff for a birding experience in the wetland ecosystem of Silver Lake. This hike can take up to 1.5 hours for the full experience. For folks wanting a longer hike afterwards we encourage you to check out nearby Seaquest State Park, with over 5 miles of forested trails.
