Lake Lenore Heritage Site - Take a Walk Among the Rocks

Join Interpretive Specialist, Sarah Overby, for a guided hike to learn more about the geology of the area and see the beautiful landscape of the Lower Grand Coulee.

Take a 1-mile roundtrip hike among the layers of basalt revealed by the Ice Age Floods to ancient rock shelters.

Bring sturdy boots, hiking stick or poles, binoculars, and a curiosity to explore this special place.

Migratory birds and other wildlife may be seen as well as fall vegetation to smell and see.

Getting There from I-90:

Head east on I-90 to exit 151 for Ephrata/Soap Lake.

Drive through Ephrata and onto Soap Lake, taking 281 to Hwy 283 N for 14.8 miles.

Continue on Hwy 28 for another 10 miles, then. Turn left (north) onto Hwy 17 and proceed for another 9.6 miles.

The Lenore Lake Road comes up quickly, so signal, slow down and turn right onto a graveled road and drive for less than a quarter mile to a parking lot with room for about 10 cars.

Getting There from Dry Falls Visitor Center:

Drive south on Highway 17 for 9.7 miles.

The sign for Lake Lenore Trail comes up quickly on Highway 17, so signal, slow down and turn left onto a graveled road.

Drive for less than a quarter mile to the trailhead parking lot.

Restroom facilities and picnic tables available.
