Ranger led tour of the batteries.

Artillery Hill Tour

There are currently no future events scheduled.
Have you ever wondered how the concrete structures on top of Artillery Hill were used? Are they called batteries or bunkers? Join a tour of Artillery Hill to learn the answers to these questions and many more!

Walking tours of Artillery Hill will be led by interpretive park staff. The distance covered is less than a mile, but does include walking up and down steps, and through the dark historical structures. It is recommended to wear closed-toed shoes, bring flashlights, and water. There is a vault toilet near the meeting location.

For ADA questions, visit the Park Office.

As you enter the park, continue straight through the 4-way stop (along Fort Worden Way). Follow the road as it curves to the left and becomes Battery Way W. Park in the grassy, triangular shaped lot. (Don't forget your Discover Pass!) Hike up the road past the gate (trailhead) and take Battery Way E up to Memory's Vault. From the parking lot it takes about 10 minutes to hike to the top of the hill.

There is a park map at the trailhead.
