Fort Townsend Historical State Park
Tales and Trails: Magic of the Forest
Join Rangers at Fort Townsend for a hike through the magical Natural Forest Area of the park. We will embark on a 1.5-mile hike from the Ranger Station (near the parking lot), through the campground, and explore several trails to make a large loop back to the Ranger Station. The trails are narrow and rugged, with roots, and 150ft of elevation change. Hiking boots and walking sticks are recommended.
Along the way, hikers will discover interpretive signs that highlight various plants, fungi, and wildlife. Families will delight in reading the folktale themed stories under the dense canopy of Fort Townsend’s magical forest.
