The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and Outdoors for All Foundation announce the second season of Action Trackchair availability at the Adaptive Cycling Center (ACC) starting April 17 at Lake Sammamish State Park.
The Action Trackchair has a track similar to the back of a snowmobile, allowing it to move over uneven terrain. The chair broadens access to the park’s trails, picnic areas and ballfields for people who have mobility needs.
The chair’s battery runs for around two hours and will signal when it’s low.
The ACC is located at Sunset Beach. It is one of two Seattle-area ACCs run by the Outdoors for All Foundation, which has more than 250 adaptive cycles. Rentals are free to participants ages seven and up.
The Lake Sammamish ACC is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on holidays until late September. The chair can be checked out on a first-come-first-served basis. Visitors can contact the ACC at (206) 418-8583.
A companion must accompany the user to help them transition into and out of the chair if help is needed. Staff will not be available to assist with transfers. Users must sign liability waivers and leave their government-issued ID while using the chair.
This program was made possible through a grant from the Bronco Wild Fund and a matching grant from the Washington State Parks Foundation.
