State Parks Commission to meet in Anacortes


OLYMPIA – July 6, 2022 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its regular in-person commission meeting Thursday, July 14 at the Swinomish Casino and Lodge in Anacortes.

Commission action items include 2023-25 state grant applications and approval of the 2023-25 operating and capital budgets.

In addition, the commission will hear updates and reports from agency staff and MS2000.

A work session is scheduled the day before the regular meeting, on Wednesday, July 13. Work sessions are open to the public; however, there will be no opportunity for the public to comment and no formal action will be taken.

The commission will tour Kukutali Preserve beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. On Friday, July 15, the commission will tour the Rosario Tidelands at Deception Pass State Park beginning at 9:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend the tours but must provide their own transportation.

BACKGROUND
The commission has six regular meetings a year in pre-determined locations around the state. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings. A full agenda, including information about opportunities for public comment is available at on State Parks' website.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor to staggered six-year terms. The commission is charged with providing policy direction for the agency.
