The San Juan Islands boast one of the largest populations of bald eagles in the lower 48. Learn about these majestic birds and their remarkable comeback from the brink of extinction. Spin the wheel and play bald eagle trivia! Prizes will be awarded to all kids who participate.
Bald eagle populations plummeted during the 1960s, because of DDT and other toxic pesticides. The bald eagle's comeback, decades later, is a story of resilience and illustrates the critical role the Endangered Species Act played in their recovery. Along with their inspiring stories, bald eagles have amazing attributes. Their vision is so keen that they can see fish swimming underwater from a mile away and bumps on the bottom of their rough toes help them grasp slippery fish.

Don't Trash our Treasures at Moran State Park
Don’t Trash our Treasures is a service program where Girl Scouts, ages 8 and older, will pick up micro-trash around Cascade Lake and learn about its environmental impacts. The public is welcome to participate.Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and close-toed shoes. Bring water, extra layers, sunscreen, and a hat. Reusable water bottles are strongly encouraged.
