The Parks headquarters Information Center is moving from its current location in Tumwater to the Department of Ecology building at 300 Desmond Drive SE in Lacey. Our customer service team is located at the front desk, just inside the main entrance.
Evening Program - Cape Disappointment
No registration is required. Annual or One Day Discover Pass is required for vehicle access. Discover Passes are available online and at park entrance.
Evening Programs are a great way to keep the fun going after dinner. Come join a ranger at the Benson Beach Ampitheater, located in Campground Loop A, just down the path from the restrooms for a fascinating talk and activities.
Wednesday: Epiphyte Schmepiphyte - Epiphytes, parasites, and saprophytes – oh my! But what on earth are these strange alien words we’ve thrown at you? Come find out at our evening program and learn about these fantastic organisms as we explore the vast world of plants on plants!
Thursday: Stories in Stone - Your ancestors made arrowheads from stone- uncover the secrets behind this ancient skill. You’ll see demonstrations of how stone tools were made and used.
Saturday: Going Nowhere Fast - Lightships, like lighthouses, served as guides for many mariners crossing through dangerous waters. Listen to stories of these forgotten sentinels of the Columbia River and make your own lantern to light your way home! Saturday's program is only every 1st and 3rd Saturday, every 2nd and 4th Saturday, you can go enjoy the Waikiki Beach Concert Series!
Sunday: Shape a Stream - A hands-on evening with our stream table as we explore the dynamic world of rivers! From source to mouth, learn a rivers' parts and how our own Columbia River is transformed by its jetties. Great for kids and adults alike!
