You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands.     There are now Nature Backpacks available for check-out at Bay View State Park! Each backpack includes educational materials and a set of kid-friendly tools to help young explorers learn about nature. Inside, you’ll find binoculars, observation tools, colored pencils, a field journal, books, activities and more.

    Visit us at the Bay View Registration Station to request a Nature Backpack. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

    Through the practice of nature journaling, we will develop our senses to notice details of the natural world and practice various drawings skills and methods with which to record our observations.

    Each session will build upon the last, so recurring attendance is encouraged.

  1. Girl Scouts Love State Parks

    For the past 4 years, Washington State Parks has participated in the national Girl Scouts Love State Parks program the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10. Girl Scouts Love State Parks is a partnership between Girl Scouts USA and the National Association of State Parks Directors. State parks in all 50 states participate. Several of our state parks will offer activities during this weekend. Interpretive rangers will host programs for kids of all ages and the opportunity for kids to get their Girl Scouts Love State Parks Passport stamped. Passports are available to Scouts and to the general public.

Lake Sylvia State Park

  1. Lake Sylvia Fall Festival continues the tradition for 12th year

    The FOSLS (Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia) LAKE SYLVIA FALL FESTIVAL continues the tradition for its 12th year! 

    Come join us for a day filled with fun and family activities. 

    If you enjoy running, trail races begin at 8:30 a.m.  From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can find one-of-a-kind art and hand-crafted treasures at the Artisans Market and eat delicious food while enjoying great live music by talented local acts all on the peaceful shores of beautiful Lake Sylvia. There will also be a kayak paddling adventure, a Watershed Festival by the GH Stream Team, Galaxy Harbor Dancers, and educational exhibits in the Legacy Pavilion.  You can decorate a pumpkin or take a group photo in our photo booth, and we will have kids activities as well.

    Park for free at Simpson Elementary in Montesano and take a free shuttle to the festival. Parking inside the park is limited and requires a Discover Pass. Watch our Facebook page for up to date information, applications, and schedules.
