Looking for a fun, educational activity for the entire family?

There are now Nature Backpacks available for check-out at Bay View State Park! Each backpack includes educational materials and a set of kid-friendly tools to help young explorers learn about nature. Inside, you’ll find binoculars, observation tools, colored pencils, a field journal, books, activities and more.

Visit us at the Bay View Registration Station to request a Nature Backpack. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

Designed similar to existing geocaching activities, Adventure Labs will guide you through the parks as you solve questions using physical features within the landscape.

Visit us at the Cama Beach Welcome Center to request a Nature Backpack. The Welcome Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

The Night Skies Talk and Star Party

Join Bob Scott and Tony Edwards from the Island County Astronomical Society at the amphitheater for a presentation about astronomy and a slide show of astrophotos!

After the talk, head down to Lowell Point near the boat launch for a Star Party with the group of astronomers.

The Night Skies talk: 7 pm – 8:30 pm at the amphitheater

Star party: 9 pm – 11 pm near the boat launch at Lowell Point

During the Star Party, the astronomers will point their telescopes at interesting objects in the sky. The moon will be at first quarter so we will be looking at Craters, Valleys, Mares and other objects on the Moon. We will also be looking at deep sky objects such as Open clusters, Galaxies and Globular clusters. And constellations such as Ursa Major (Big Dipper), Ursa Minor (Little Dipper), Cassiopeia, Bootes, and others.

All ages are invited to participate. Bring layers. Weather dependent

Dune Walk

Join staff for a 45-minute guided walk along the newly renovated ADA Sand Dunes Interpretive trail. Learn about the diversity of wildlife and plants that can be found in the park. Meet at the West Beach Shelter.

Junior Ranger Program

Youth and families are invited to participate in a fun filled 20-minute program designed just for them. Play games, sing songs, and explore. Best for youth 4-12, though all are welcome! An adult must be present for the entire duration of the program. Meet at amphitheater.

Beaver Building

Can you build like a beaver? This is your chance to find out! Join park naturalists to learn all about beavers and test your own skills at building a beaver lodge. Great for ages 6 and up.
