Each backpack includes educational materials and a set of kid-friendly tools to help young explorers learn about nature. Inside, you’ll find binoculars, observation tools, colored pencils, a field journal, books, activities and more.

    Visit us at the Bay View Registration Station to request a Nature Backpack. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

  2. The Night Skies Talk and Star Party

    Join Bob Scott and Tony Edwards from the Island County Astronomical Society at the amphitheater for a presentation about astronomy and a slide show of astrophotos!

    After the talk, head down to Lowell Point near the boat launch for a Star Party with the group of astronomers.

    The Night Skies talk: 7 pm – 8:30 pm at the amphitheater

    Star party: 9 pm – 11 pm near the boat launch at Lowell Point

    During the Star Party, the astronomers will point their telescopes at interesting objects in the sky. The moon will be at first quarter so we will be looking at Craters, Valleys, Mares and other objects on the Moon. We will also be looking at deep sky objects such as Open clusters, Galaxies and Globular clusters. And constellations such as Ursa Major (Big Dipper), Ursa Minor (Little Dipper), Cassiopeia, Bootes, and others.

    All ages are invited to participate. Bring layers. Weather dependent
