[ARCHIVED] Girl Scouts Love State Parks activities set for Sept. 9-11

Several parks will host events during national Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend.

OLYMPIA – Sept. 7, 2022 – Washington State Parks will participate in the national Girl Scouts Love State Parks program this weekend. Girl Scouts Love State Parks is a partnership between Girl Scouts USA and the National Association of State Parks Directors. State parks in all 50 states participate.

Several state parks will offer activities during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend. Interpretive rangers will host scavenger hunts, arts and crafts for kids of all ages and the opportunity for kids to get their Girl Scouts Love State Parks Passport stamped. Passports are available to Scouts and to the general public.

All events are free and open to the public. A Discover Pass is required for parking.

Parks hosting events:

Saltwater State Park

Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Activity area is near the upper parking lot. Follow signs.

Dash Point State Park   

Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Follow signs from the main parking lot to the activity area.

Bridle Trails State Park

Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Activity area is near the main parking lot. Follow signs.

Lake Sammamish State Park

Saturday, Sept. 1 to 3 p.m.

Activities take place along the Sunset Beach Trail. Follow signs.

Bridle Trails State Park

Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Activity area is near the main parking lot. Follow signs.

Riverside State Park

Saturday, Sept. 10, noon and 2 p.m.

Ranger Chat in the Bowl and Pitcher Area

and

Sunday, Sept. 11, noon and 2 p.m.

Ranger Chat at the Spokane House


In addition to in-person events, State Parks will host two virtual programs:

10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, Facebook – State Parks Steward Julie Morse will talk about fun careers to consider in the field of land stewardship and conservation. Tune in at: https://www.facebook.com/WashingtonStateParks 

6 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, YouTube Live – Interpretive Specialist Troy Carpenter will present from the Goldendale Observatory. Using state-of-the-art equipment, including cameras hooked up to the observatory’s telescope, Carpenter will let viewers experience an observatory from their own living rooms.
