OLYMPIA – Jan. 22, 2018 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces changes that will add more parks and sites to its central reservation system and also will extend reservation availability at several parks.
The following additions to the central reservation system go into effect Feb. 21:
- Bogachiel State Park, Forks – Campground. Open year round. Reservable May 15 through Sept. 15. (Previously not reservable.)
- Fields Spring State Park, Anatone — Tamarack Cabin open and reservable year round. (Previously reservable April 1 through Oct. 31.)
- Fort Casey Historical State Park, Coupeville — Campsites reservable year round. (Previously reservable May 15 through Sept. 15.)
- Fort Ebey State Park, Coupeville – Reservation season extended March 1 through Oct. 31. (Previously reservable May 15 through Sept. 15.)
- Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, Ravensdale — Campsites reservable year round. (Previously, winter camping was first come, first served.)
- Mount Spokane State Park, Mead — Vista House, a day-use facility often used for weddings.
- Rainbow Falls State Park, Chehalis — Group camp and shelter. (Previously reservable only by calling the park.)
- Fort Townsend, Port Townsend – Group camp. (Previously reservable only by calling the park.)
- Brooks Memorial, Goldendale – Group camp. (Previously reservable only by calling the park.)
In most cases, campgrounds and other state park facilities, such as cabins and yurts, may be reserved nine months in advance. Washington State Parks recommends booking stays as early as possible, especially for the more popular parks and for the busy summer season and weekends. Generally, open spots are easier to find on weekdays and in the off season.
The newly reservable parks and sites join more than 80 other state parks in the agency’s reservation system. The reservation phone number is 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688), and the online reservation link is http://parks.state.wa.us/223/Reservations.
