Saint Edward Planning - Seminary

Seminary Building with people walking up to it

Thank you to everyone who participated in the planning process.

On January 9, 2017, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously to delegate to the Director authority to enter into a 62-year lease with Daniels Real Estate of Seattle to rehabilitate the Saint Edward Seminary building at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore. The project will be referred into the future as the "Lodge at Saint Edward." The Seminary building is historically significant and listed in the Washington Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places.

Project elements include the lease of 5.5-acres of land around the Seminary building complex; acquisition of the 9.77-acre McDonald property; rehabilitation of the Seminary and its adaptive reuse as a park lodge. The project will require a significant investment by Daniels Real Estate, which is estimated between $45,000,000 and $50,000,000. The proposed project would include 80-100 guest rooms, meeting/conference rooms, exercise facility/wellness spa, and a restaurant and café. With this investment, the building will be made fully accessible for public use for the first time in its nearly 90-year history.

The additional land is located adjacent to the park and includes 450-feet of Lake Washington shoreline. The North Loop Trail is aligned over this property, which is already very familiar with visitors who hike and run the trails throughout the park.

On April 17 at 6:00 pm, the Kenmore City Council will consider the recommendations made by the Hearing Examiner and make a final decision on the Site Plan application by Daniels Real Estate. Please follow the link to the City of Kenmore's website for more information. The meeting will take place at Kenmore City Hall located at 18120 68th Ave NE, Kenmore, WA 98028.
