Calendar announcement – Commemorate the Centennial Trail State Park 20th anniversary

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to commemorate the Centennial Trail State Park 20th anniversary at Riverfront Park in Spokane.
EVENT: Join the Friends of the Centennial Trail during a commemorative presentation for the Centennial Trail State Park 20th anniversary. City of Spokane Mayor David Condon will be declaring the week of Sept. 9 as Centennial Trail Week. Visitors may explore the past, present and future of the trail through a photo display. The presentation is a part of SpokeFair in Riverfront Park.
WHEN: Noon to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 2012
WHERE: The Gondola Meadow in Riverfront Park, 507 North Howard Street in Spokane.
WHO’S INVITED: Individuals, couples and families interested in commemorating the Centennial Trail State Park 20th anniversary.
OF PARK: Centennial Trail State Park is a 37-mile trail managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. The park consists of a paved trail meandering along the Spokane River and extending from Nine Mile Falls to the Idaho state line. Dedicated and named the Centennial Trail in 1989 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Washington state, the trail runs through Riverfront Park at milepost 22. Miles 28 and 37 run through Riverside State Park on Aubrey L. White Parkway which was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and still features CCC stone work and retaining walls.
