Kids welcome to test their biking skills at Pearrygin Lake State Park

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to attend the kids’ bike rodeo at Pearrygin Lake State Park in Okanogan County.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon June 9 at Pearrygin Lake State Park, 561 Bear Creek Road in Winthrop. Children ages 5 to 12 years of age are invited to take along a bike to the rodeo dedicate to biking safety. Children may test their maneuvering skills through the cone course, learn about riding in traffic, get fitted for a helmet and have their bikes inspected. Helmets are required for participation and available by donation at the event. Event registration begins at 9:45 a.m. Registration is free. Parental permission slips are required.
The Discover Pass is not required to attend this event. June 9 is a State Parks “free day” in recognition of National Get Outdoors day. Visitors are not required to display a Discover Pass to access state parks on “free days.”
The bike rodeo is presented in partnership with the Aero Methow Rescue Service and supported by Methow Cycle and Sport, Winthrop Kiwanis and Okanogan Fire District 6.
Pearrygin Lake State Park is a camping park in the Methow Valley in north central Washington. The park features expansive green lawns leading to 11,000 feet of waterfront on Pearrygin Lake. The park opened in 1964 as a state park recreation area. The lake offers swimming, fishing and boating and the park is well-known for viewings of marmots, red-winged and yellow-headed blackbirds and other wildlife.
