Adventures in Boating Washington Handbook
The
Adventures in Boating Washington Handbook is designed to introduce new boaters to
their responsibilities for safe, environmentally sound boating practices and to provide
updated information to those who have had experience on the water. I encourage you to
carefully read the material provided in this handbook and to make a commitment to always
practice the safety rules when you are on the water. You will also find important
environmental tips that if followed, will help ensure that others will have the same
opportunity to enjoy Washington's wonderful aquatic resources. I recommend that you keep
a copy of the Boating Handbook on board your vessel to be used as a ready reference.
Inquiries or requests for additional boating information should be directed to

We in Washington State are blessed with many rivers, lakes, a spectacular coastline and
Puget Sound. I believe boating is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular family sports.
As our waterways get busy, remember that boating is safer and more enjoyable when boaters are
property prepared. Together, we can keep boating experiences safe and enjoyable by following
well-founded safety rules and being environmentally responsible. Please take good care when
on the water.
