Watercraft Launch Frequently Asked Questions

If I'm camping at the state park, do I still have to pay to launch my vessel?

If you are currently camping at a Washington state park and have paid the appropriate camping fees, you do not have to pay an additional watercraft launch fee.

If I'm using the watercraft launch site just to launch a personal watercraft (not a boat) do I still have to pay the fee?

Yes, watercraft launch site means any facilities designated for the purpose of placing or retrieving any vehicle-borne or trailer-borne watercraft into or out of the water.

How do I pay on a one-time basis if there is no park ranger around?

Fee designated sites have fee envelopes and a metal box (typically found near the bulletin board) for placing your fee.

Where can I purchase an annual permit for watercraft launching?

A Natural Investment permit can be purchased at State Parks Headquarters in Olympia, at region offices, online and at parks when staff is available. The permit also is valid for trailer dumping.

If I launch my vessel and am planning to be out overnight, can I leave my vehicle in the parking lot without getting in trouble?

Yes, while being out overnight on the water, you can leave your vehicle in the parking lot by paying a $10 per night unattended overnight vehicle fee.

Safety Tips
Keep fishing gear clean and well packed. A loose fish hook can cause a lot of pain and ruin a great outing.
